About me

Hi! I’m Asif…

Efficaciosuave- Is also a name I go by on other platforms. So who is he? Who IS Efficaciousuave? Why such a weird name – we’ll go into that later. For now, a few innocent things about me that don’t change easily-

  • I love taking pictures
  • I enjoy listening to music
  • I would like to travel the world someday- a month long family trip to the Alps and Iceland are on the top of my list.
  • I want to be independent in life
  • Qualities I value most in people – Honesty, Loyalty, and Integrity.

Besides, I am a student. Based in India. With dreams and hopes of conquering the world.

Reliance India Mobile’s Tag Line

Literally- The World in your fist- a popular tag line of a telecommunication company which resonates with my life goals as well as that of all other youth. This blog is an attempt to chronicle my journey towards that goal.

I am usually not fond of social media. I find them very restrictive. The objective is to share my thoughts with likeminded people and platforms like Facebook and Instagram fail to do that on their own. The system of likes and dislikes from your friend circle – who most often don’t share the same interests as you do – often end up discouraging you.

Imagine a school kid interested in classical dance when all his classmates are all about modern pop hits. It will be difficult for him to get the support he deserves. It won’t all be bad – his friends might say a few good words, but no one would be able to genuinely appreciate his talent, because they have no idea.

A platform like this, my own digital house- allows me to highlight what I want to “likeminded” people. The Algorithm does its job of connecting me and my articles to people who are actively seeking out such posts. That’s what makes this more special. Think of this like a dating app bringing together people with similar interests. Except on a broader scale.

So, if you are here, going through all these posts, then do you know what that means?

That means you and I have quite a few things in common.

Right now those things include gadgets and some random musings but I am sure, as time goes by, i will have tons of interesting content to share with you and i just can’t wait for my next post!

And oh! before I forget again, my name- Effi..cay..something right? πŸ˜…What’s with that? Why not something normal? What language is it? Did you just make it up? So many questions, right!

Let me answer them for you. But first, a little backstory.

I grew up in a typical Indian family where the golden rule of parenting is always the same- “Padhoge Likhoge Banoge Nawab, Kheloge Kudoge Hoge Kharab” . In English, the exact opposite of “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”. As such, i was reared and brought up in a way to appreciate smart people . No, not Abdul Kalam or Sachin Tendulkar. Smart means people who can crack IIT entrance examinations. Every Indian Parent’s Dream Dream- The Sapnon ka Sapna- that their son cracks the JEE and get into IIT, or that their daughter crack the AIPMT and get into a medical college. Or sometimes the reverse too, but basically both make your life hell so whether Jee or AIPMT it’s the same!

So, every year when the results of IIT or IAS of Board Exams would come out, the front page of newspapers would be filled with ads from certain coaching institutes from Kota and Delhi, I would look at their pictures and wonder.

Fine, you were studious. I know you studied 25 hours a day and slept for minus 1 hour and you did this, and you did that to crack that one exam- I know all that. But now that the exam has been not only been cracked, but also beaten to powder and pieces-I mean the results have come out too— so WHAT ON EARTH PRAY TELL ME IS STOPPING YOU FROM AT LEAST COMBING YOUR HAIR PROPERLY.??? It doesn’t cost you time, it doesn’t cost you money. At least, try to look good. How much is that to ask for? AT least for this photoshoot for the newspaper ad you could have combed your hair. I am not asking you to become a model, I just want you to look neat and sharp so i can be rest assured that if someday, it be my picture (😁), I can take comfort that i will look good too.

[ Now before anyone starts bashing me and criticizing me or calling me names for all that i just said, let me remind you those were the thoughts of a 12-year-old kid. Of course, today, as a grown up, i have no such thoughts. Now back to the story. ]

There, in that moment of despair, i had my epiphany.

I immediately resolved. Swore. I promised myself. Took an Oath. (Some other cool sounding synonyms here) That I too, would appear in those ads someday (Spoiler Alert- It never happened, that boat has long sailed!!), AND I will also be cool looking. Cool hairstyle, nice glasses, and the lot. Then I had to think of a name for myself too. Something that would describe the me in the newspaper well. What could that word be? hmmm…

Then I went to the wise old monk- Google baba – and typed in a few sentences and words. I didn’t have the word yet, but I knew what I was looking for.

It had to describe me as someone smart.

Look wise, and Brain wise.

I wanted it both (spoiler alert again- never happened ☹️, at least not yetπŸ˜…). Why do the cool looking kids in my class always have the worst report card, some even fail!! And why do the kids who consistently come first in class or win the national level quiz or spelling competition or the toppers for IIT and AIIMS, why are they all so – Ugh! Why can’t I top the jee AND look good at the same time? (Repeat disclaimer- that’s not the current me, that’s the 12-year-old me)

Thats how the hunt for my name began with google baba’s blessings. I kept hitting the search box with queries, which when i think of today, makes me laugh so hard! 🀣

Words like smart

words like handsome

Words like smart and handsome.

Handsome and intelligent words

Lol!

Eventually I narrowed my search to two words-

Efficacious and Suave.

Efficacious is defined as-

Successful in producing a desired or intended result; effective

Google definition for Efficacious

And Suave is defined as

Charming, confident, and elegant (typically used of a man)

Google Definition for Suave

Basically, I found two words to loosely describe someone who has a smart brain- Efficacious, and smart looks – Suave.

And thus, was born: –

Efficaciousuave-

Someone aspiring to have a successful career and charming persona

You can say i coined this word, who knows it might get picked up iin the Mainstream πŸ˜…

And No, not talking about modelling or becoming an actor. I meant academic career- something that Indian parents want- remember that saying we started off with – padhoge likhoge..??? Something like a doctor, or engineer, or either of these two.

So yes, I decided on that word, and it has stuck with me. I have grown attached to it. It may sound weird, I know, but there’s so much behind that name. It’s the dreams and imagination of the 12-year-old me. When I look back at that kid, I am amazed at how resourceful that kid was. The lengths I went to find a silly name, and for such a silly reason! Thats what being a kid is after all I guess, and I love that kid. I am no longer that kid, far from it. Nor have I been able to achieve anything that that 12-year-old dreamed of, but i am hopeful of my future.

I important life lesson I have learned recently is that as long as i have that kid’s excitement and energy with me, i can do anything. All I need to do is rediscover that kid.

That kid who went to google on a 2G internet to find two cool words. Such innocence and drive! Amazing.

This blog is an attempt to help me rediscover that kid and share that path of rediscovery with you as well. Who knows, it might motivate you to find your inner kid?

That’s all for today folks!

See ya!

Peace! ✌🏻

I would like to start off by saying good job on “Taking action”.

That’s a lot more than most people ever do. It’s always I will do this and that and it all just becomes a series of words which never translate into effort and result.

So, I congratulate you on that.

As for the blog, it serves as a good intro to the kind of person you were. But you need to show who you are now.

Not the 12-year-old who thought he could conquer the IIT exams with the charisma of Shah Rukh Khan. Instead, I would like to know about the man who wants to visit the Alps and Iceland, because who you are can very likely resonate with who I am.

Well, that’s the sum total of my thoughts on the blog. Continue writing more blogs. There is no other way to get better

Thank you very much for taking your time reading this really lengthy article and even commenting. I really appreciate it since you raised some very valid points. I think it’s time to update this section with more current information, like “who i am now“- which you so rightfully pointed out. Hope to see you again! Have a good day!
