OneNote Updated Again

OneNote for iPads have received another update. This one comes quite soon as there was another update not much long ago.

In the previous update, there were improvements to attaching pictures experience, about which you can read more here. In this update some of the features seem to have been taken away.

The previous update allowed users to annotate over the pictures taken with the OneNote camera app. There were options such as text, ink, etc. This update seems to have taken back some of those options, although the core improvement – which was being able to take pictures and insert them easily – remains. Look at the comparison below:-

The One on the left is the Before, and the one on the right, the current and after.

Although, it did seem odd a bit why these two were introduced in the first place. OneNote being an infinite canvas with infinite possibilities, the users are free to add ink or text or both whereover they wish so. Even on pictures added. So, the annotation features did seem unnecessary, especially since they were so underbaked such as the missing eraser tool.

Microsoft has been doing an excellent job with their support for OneNote on iPads, and as a devoted user of the app and device, I sincerely hope this remains the case forever.
