It was only last week that the world saw an outage affecting several apps and services using Amazon’s AWS. With today being Christmas Eve or Christmas depending upon your time zone it seems there’s another such blackout in progress now as of this article going live, although I am not exactly sure if it’s Amazon or someone else. Streaming services like Netflix and Prime seem to have some issues.
Affected services so far include Clash of Clans, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Duolingo. There could be others too, but these are the ones I am having issue with.
A quick search on the internet failed to give any information on this issue. Perhaps it’s an isolated incident, affecting only a few? In that case I sure am unlucky one ☹️
Also, for Netflix, the issue seems limited to its web portal and PC app. It is working fine on iOS as well as Android.
Prime Videos is still not showing on all platforms- PC, iOS, and Android. Same for COC.
Duolingo too is stuck on its loading screen on all platforms. However, after waiting for 10 minutes, it did manage to open on my android so I could finish off the lesson. I was worried I would lose my streak! However, once I closed the app and tried opening it again, I am still facing the same issue.
The threat of Virus hasn’t left us yet and with new variants like Omicron raising its ugly head, it’s likely many families would choose to continue staying indoors even on this festive occasion. With millions of people stuck at home it’s natural to expect a higher-than-normal load on these services this time of the year. Let’s hope it gets fixed soon, so we can all go back to our blankets sipping hot tea and binging on our favorites.
